Kitchen Appliances You Really Need

Big Appliances You Need

When you are setting up your new kitchen, you have to remember to upgrade all of your kitchen appliances if they are old and outdated.

Lets face it… It doesn’t make much sense to remodel your kitchen with new flooring, counters and cabinets if all of your appliances look as if they came from the mid-80s!

These are some of the must have big appliances that you need to have in your kitchen. It is by no means a complete list, but it includes the “must have” items that are important to most people.

Big Kitchen Appliance, number 1

The Refrigerator. Of course, no kitchen is complete without a fridge and freezer. You can find some great new models on the market that offer icemakers, water and more. They are available in different sizes as well as different styles, so you should be able to find what you need. One of the styles that are still quite popular is the stainless steel refrigerator. Our big tip though is to make sure that your new unit has enough freezer space, we only point this out as water coolers and ice makers can take up a lot of space in the freezer.

Big Appliance, number 2

The Oven and Stove – What we like to call the “Stoven”. You won’t be doing much cooking without this! Glass top and ceramic top stoves are popular today, but they are certainly not the only options available. Check the other options and choose the one that makes sense to the way you cook and prepare meals. Our tip of the day is to look at some of the latest gas models, like the Hotpoint or Smeg ovens as these have wider oven compartments which can take a lot more food at a time and are perfect for those Sunday roasts.

Big Appliance, number 3

The Dishwasher – Even if you do most of your dishes by hand, having one of these completes the look of a modern kitchen. If you plan to sell your home in the near future, you are going to want to have one of these simply because people expect it. I know I do. There are some really hot deals on the market at the moment; our favourite ranges include LG and Bosch.

Obviously no kitchen will ever be complete without a couple of small appliances.

Microwave – Almost as important as the stove is the microwave. Many people use these to heat up leftovers or to cook a quick lunch. You can find models that will install right above your stove, which is convenient and helps to save space. You can also put the microwave on your counter. Every home should have one of these kitchen appliances. Samsung have some fantastic microwaves out at the moment and for those of you who aren’t scared to throw it around a bit – we like the Miele Range. Expensive but oh so worth it.

Toaster – Whether you have a traditional toaster or a toaster oven, you will find that these are very handy. They come in different sizes and styles, and if you don’t have room on your counter for it fulltime, you can always store it away until you need it. Toasters have come a long way in the appliance world over the last few years; make sure that you shop around as prices do vary from store to store. As a good starting point you may want to consider something like a Russell Hobbs Toaster.

Coffee Machine – Most people enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning, again, I know I do. If you are among the caffeine fiends then you need to have a nice coffee machine nearby at all times. Varying styles and sizes are available. Some are even able to make cappuccino. As a personal recommendation, an excellent coffee machine that is also easy to use is the Nespresso. Although if you want a real show stopper and you like to crush your own beans – I know I do…? Then why not consider something like the Delonghi.
